Etihad Airways expands codeshare agreement with Russia S7 Airlines

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is expanding its codeshare partnership with S7 Airlines to include eight additional destinations from the Russian carrier’s Moscow hub.
Effective 16 January 2016, Etihad Airways will place its EY code on S7 Airlines’ domestic services between Moscow and Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Novy Urengoy, Omsk, Perm, Rostov-on-Don and Sochi.
Under the revised agreement, S7 Airlines applies its code on routes via Moscow to Abu Dhabi and selected connecting destinations on Etihad Airways’ network including Sydney, Singapore, Bangkok, and Phuket.
Etihad Airways, which operates daily flights to Moscow, already has codeshare arrangements with S7 Airlines covering the Russian cities of Kazan, Krasnodar, Saint Petersburg, Samara, Ufa and Yekaterinburg. Both airlines have been offering joint codeshare flights since 2010.

Igor Veretennikov, S7 Group Deputy CEO and Head of Strategy Department, said: “By extending our codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, we open up more travel opportunities for S7 Airlines’ passengers, adding destinations such as Singapore to our route network. We look forward to welcoming Etihad Airways’ customers on eight more S7 Airlines’ routes within Russia.
Etihad Airways’ daily Moscow flights are operated with a 174-seat Airbus A321 in a two-class configuration of 16 in Business and 158 in Economy.
Etihad Airways deploys state-of-the-art baggage management system across its airport network
Etihad Airways also announced an agreement with Luggage Logistics to transform the end-to-end baggage management process across the airline’s global airport network.
Luggage Logistics’ advanced Baggage Management System (BMS) will enable Etihad Airways to significantly improve the delivery of guests’ luggage to their destination on-time. It will also help the airline to easily track where bags are at any point along the journey throughout its global operation.
BMS will integrate with flight schedules and other key passenger information and departure control systems. This will increase the speed at which Etihad Airways’ guest bags can be identified and transferred from the aircraft to the airport terminal facilities onto connecting flights, keeping departures on schedule and improve the on-time performance of its flights.
The software works from a centralised database that manages all baggage-related data from multiple sources. This real-time information can be shared quickly and efficiently across Etihad Airways’ operations teams ensuring the consistency and visibility of baggage information.

The solution is also closely aligned with Etihad Airways’ operational and infrastructure requirements, and those of its hub in Abu Dhabi.
